Board-certified plastic surgeon. Fellowship-trained in aesthetic surgery. Fifteen years in practice, the last ten in Newport Beach, operating in his own accredited surgical suite. One signature procedure — rhinoplasty — and a deliberately narrow scope beneath it.
Any physician with a medical license can legally perform cosmetic surgery. Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery means something specific: six or more years of surgical residency after medical school, written and oral examinations in plastic surgery itself, and ongoing recertification. When you verify a surgeon, this is the board to look for — not a cosmetic board with a similar name. Dr. Vale is certified by the ABPS and operates only in AAAASF-accredited facilities.
I don't think surgery should announce itself. A good result is quiet — proportional, rested, yours. The work I'm proudest of is the work nobody has ever complimented, because nobody could tell it happened.
That standard shapes everything here. I do my own consultations — an hour, not fifteen minutes. I publish my fees, because I would want them published if I were on the other side of the desk. I operate on fewer patients than I could, in my own accredited suite, with an anesthesia team I've worked with for a decade. And I decline to operate more often than most surgeons will admit to — which brings me to the next section.
Roughly one consultation in five ends with me recommending against surgery. Three honest reasons, in my own words:
If someone brings me a photo of another person's nose, surgery isn't the problem I can solve. I'd rather lose the case than deliver a result that disappoints on schedule.
Nicotine use, unstable weight, uncontrolled conditions. These aren't formalities — they change how tissue heals. I'll tell you what needs to change and I'll be here when it has.
A wedding in six weeks, a partner's preference, a hard season of life. Surgery decided under pressure is surgery regretted. When the reason is yours and the calendar is calm, we'll talk.
